There are so many great things to tell you about this week! First of all, Franks and Firefighters went really well, and it seems that we will definitely be doing that event again next year. We discussed having it in the summer, because we found that lots of people came, but they didn't hang out quite as long as it began to cool off. Good to know!
Another wonderful thing that happened is that one of our favorite friends got housing! It's a situation that we can't say too much about because of privacy issues, but there are many people who helped to make this happen, they know who they are, and we are all just thrilled. Thank you to everyone who stepped up!
We also received a surprise donation last week from our friends at IC Credit Union. They support us and our community in many ways, not the least of which is giving us advice about handling the money you entrust to us. Sometimes I don't think that credit union employees, bankers, and CPAs get enough credit for the work they do for a community, both directly and indirectly. In this case, directly! Thank you so much to our friends...we will put this to good use this fall and holiday season.
Finally, it's that time of year again where our friend Lin collects the funds needed to put together Thanksgiving bags. These have all the things needed for a turkey dinner minus the turkey, which we handle through grocery store gift cards. [Note: we do not collect turkeys...we don't have room to store them] If you'd like to help in this project, please email me back and I'll put you in touch with Lin. If you donate, please make sure she has your email address if you'd like to receive a donation form from us. Thank you for all the help in the past, and for what I know this community will do this year! Picture attached :-)

One Small Thing
Our friend Jennifer's lovely son Devan arranged for us to receive a large donation of spices from Penzeys. We had a really fun time last week packing up mixed bags of them to hand out! Trying new spices is always a good thing!

If you want to help this week, we would especially appreciate funds for Thanksgiving, but we will gratefully take anything off our complete pantry list. If you need the list, please let me know and I'll email it to you. We can take drop-offs at the pantry (through the gray door next to the parking lot on Cambridge Street) only on Wednesdays from 10 to noon, Fridays from 4 to 5, and Saturdays only from 9 to 10. Please do not leave food at the door outside of these hours. The bin is available to drop off SHELF-STABLE FOODS ONLY at Ayer Shop n' Save if those times don't suit. If you have FRESH PRODUCE, please contact us so we can make arrangements. Please don't leave it in the S n' S bin! Please also leave a note in the bag with your name so we know whom to thank when you do drop off food at the store! We are located at 21 Washington Street, Suite C, Ayer MA 01432
