Another week, more snow! I hope you are all shoveled and plowed out by the time you read this. We had an average busy Saturday in spite of (or maybe because of!) the snow. We also had a large number of people who were picking up for others as well as themselves, which we love. Thanks to Laurie S and the Cookie Brigade, we had a fresh batch of deliciousness to hand out to everyone on Saturday. This was particularly meaningful to our last guest of the day, a gentleman with no fixed address. In general, he is very health-conscious about the foods that he eats, but he also knows that winter is a time for more calories. He was delighted to think that someone (a bunch of someones!) baked cookies for our guests. I'll admit that I gave him extra  😊 We are finishing up our price comparison exploration on the various personal care items and diapers which we'll be purchasing for the migrant group housed in Ayer. I told you about it last week, but if you missed it, we are ve

Good morning everyone. On Friday evening, we said goodbye to our dear friend Steve. We shared his favorite meal, reminisced, and held a short memorial service in his honor. We discussed how none of us could take his place, but that each of us has a place, an important place, and each of us has talents that we can use to serve one another and the community. My prayer is that every lonely and hurting person in our area will find a place with people who support them. Thank you for helping us to continue to be there for the people that have found us. In this new year, would you like to get more involved? There is always room at the table... We had some good news to share too. We received a grant from Greater Lowell Community Foundation  (go check out all the great work they help to fund!). It is earmarked for personal care items, including diapers and feminine hygiene supplies, for the migrant group currently lodged in Ayer. We are currently gathering information (this calls

Good morning friends. On this beautiful day dedicated to the memory of Dr Martin Luther King Jr and social justice, I have so much good stuff to share with you all, but unfortunately I have to start out on a sad note. We lost a dear member of our beloved community last week, one whose story you are already familiar with. Steve, a sweet and gentle soul, who rebuilt bicycles for people in need of transportation, has gone home. Steve was responsible for dozens upon dozens of bikes getting into the hands of people who needed them most, at no cost to them. I shared a story with you a while back about a young homeless man in the Fitchburg area who received one of Steve's bikes and was then able to get a job and move out of his tent and into a shelter, with plans to move on from there as soon as he was able. Steve will be missed by all of us, especially at our Friday evening dinners. His generosity has created a local legacy that we will not soon forget. I have a lot of other things

Good morning! I hope that not too many of you are unhappy about the snow. I always feel that same excitement that I did when I was a kid in school...SNOW DAY!! I only have a couple of things to tell you about, and then I have to get back to work on the end-of-the-year tax statements for all of you. The annual report/thank you letter is written, and I think you'll be really happy to read about what your participation has enabled us to do this year. I've attached it as a pdf here. At the risk of you receiving it twice or even three times (it's digital...no waste!), I'm also going to send it out with the in-kind and monetary donation forms and I'll post it on our website and facebook page. We have two events coming up: Saturday January 13, 10 to noon, monthly Craft Gathering with Debbie Eaton Thursday January 18, 4:30 to 5:30pm, a First Aid basics workshop with the Nashoba Associated Boards of Health nurses Both of these events are free, of course,
