Well. September just flew by, didn't it? Here we are again, and I have a few things to share with you: one sweet story, one thing we desperately need help with, and one beautiful small thing.
One Sweet Story
Are any of you familiar with the book The Kissing Hand by Audrey Penn? It's a story about a little raccoon who is afraid to leave home and go to school for the first time. I think most of you know that we share a building with a preschool (where my own children went, many many moons ago!), and that school started just a few short weeks ago. A dear friend of ours gave us copies of that book to share, and it seemed like the perfect fit. We passed them along to Ayer Community School for them to give to any of their littles ones who were having a tough transition. Last week on the playground it looked like all smiles, so I hope it was a help to some of the families.
One Small Thing
We had a couple stop by for dinner on Friday, mostly because they had locked themselves out of their car and didn't know what to do. Our friend Joe knew what to do, though! He works with a friend who is a tow truck operator, and Joe had all the tools needed in his own car. After dinner he went out with them, and easy peasy had the car open for them in seconds! Thank you Joe!

Thank you to everyone who has been supporting us. We are concerned about what the upcoming cuts to SNAP will do to our friends and our community, but we will just continue to do our best. If you want to shop for us this week, we could particularly use pudding cups and coffee, but we will gratefully take anything off our complete list. If you need the list, please let me know and I'll email it to you. We can take drop-offs at the pantry (through the gray door next to the parking lot on Cambridge Street) only on Wednesdays from 10 to noon, Fridays from 4 to 5, and Saturdays only from 9 to 10. Please do not leave food at the door outside of these hours. The bin is available to drop off SHELF-STABLE FOODS ONLY at Ayer Shop n' Save if those times don't suit. If you have FRESH PRODUCE, please contact us so we can make arrangements. Please don't leave it in the S n' S bin! Please also leave a note in the bag with your name so we know whom to thank when you do drop off food at the store! We are located at 21 Washington Street, Suite C, Ayer MA 01432
The sun will be out soon, and I love you all. Thank you!
