Good morning! I hope you were all able to spend some time with family and friends this past weekend, and that you did everything you could to keep cool. We worry about some of our friends when the temperatures soar like they did, but just a reminder...you can tell anyone you know who is at risk that the police stations and/or fire stations usually have cooling rooms. You can double check with your own town before the next wave arrives so that you will have the information available to share.

We now have a date, place, and vendor (woot!!) set for our First Annual Cops and Cones event. It's scary when you have to pick a date and place first, get that all set, and then aren't sure if anyone will have the date free. August 19, 7 to 8pm, the first ballfield at Pirone Park, catered by...(fanfare please)...the amazing West Side Creamery of Acton! They use an old refurbished milk truck! Isn't that adorable? So please put that date on your calendars now and plan to come have a cup or cone of their delicious ice cream. Of course there will be no fee for anyone attending, so tell all your friends. And enemies. This would be a great way to make peace with someone you're unhappy with.

One Small Thing
Our Ayer/Groton Girl Scouts did a cereal collection for us recently to help replenish our depleted stock. It was an unexpected gift, and we really appreciated it!

In other news, there are just a few other items to catch you up on. We made our second quarterly contribution to the Ayer Library to help them supplement the food they keep on hand for unaccompanied teens. Especially with school out, we felt it was really important to help keep those kids from being hungry. And please don't forget about our Garden Gleaners. Rachel and her team are ready to help you harvest and donated excess produce that you would like to see go to a good home. Email me back and I'll get you in touch with her!

If you can shop for us this week, we seem to always be in need of several items: boxes of instant potatoes, 16 oz canisters of oatmeal, and adult diapers in size LARGE. Please email me if you need our complete pantry list or you want our QR code for online donations. We can take drop-offs at the pantry (through the gray door next to the parking lot on Cambridge Street) on Wednesdays from 10 to noon, Fridays from 4 to 5, and Saturdays only from 9 to 10. Please do not leave food at the door outside of these hours. The bin is always available at Ayer Shop n' Save if those times don't suit: Please leave a note in the bag with your name so we know whom to thank! We are located at 21 Washington Street, Suite C, Ayer MA 01432

I love you all. Be kind to one another...the times are difficult ~
