Good morning! It's such a gorgeous day, and not too hot for my taste, so Mike and I are going to go see if we can find a nice spot outdoors to hike a bit and then sit and read. I hope you'll each have a chance to enjoy the outdoors this week and to decompress from all that is negative around us.
We had a very productive week at Stone Soup Kitchen, and there are a few things to catch you up on. Even though it's almost two months away, I want to let you know about an event that we are planning with our Ayer Police Department: Cops and Cones! Do you like ice cream? Do you like chatting with our police officers? Would you be interested in helping out with this event by scooping some ice cream and chatting with people? Email me back and we'll get you on the volunteers list. We are looking at the 3rd week of August, probably the 19th or 20th. More on all of this when we get a firm reservation.
This past Wednesday, we delivered a stack of Stone Soup books to the Ayer Community School, along with a bookplate that can be personalized for each of their graduates. Many thanks to Debra Rivera at Little Bee Bookshop for ordering the books for us, and to J&S Business Products for helping us with the printing. I've attached a picture here of some of the ACS teachers and the director, Martha P, along with a few of our volunteers. We hope that all the kids will enjoy receiving a copy of the story that they are already familiar with, and we wish all of them and their families great success in Kindergarten this fall!

One Small Thing
A friend of ours who owns a local thrift shop (you know who I mean!) found some basic pots and pans for a young woman who has been struggling with housing issues. It may not seem like a lot, but it is the world to someone who has nothing.

If you can shop for us this week, we are low on jelly, boxed mac + cheese, and adult diapers in the size LARGE. Sometimes they come as M/L, depending upon the brand. We have more call for those made for females, if the brand makes a distinction. Some are unisex, and those are fine too. Please email me if you need our complete pantry list or you want our QR code for online donations. We can take drop-offs at the pantry (through the gray door next to the parking lot on Cambridge Street) on Wednesdays from 10 to noon, Fridays from 4 to 5, and Saturdays only from 9 to 10. Please do not leave food at the door outside of these hours. The bin is always available at Ayer Shop n' Save if those times don't suit: Please leave a note in the bag with your name so we know whom to thank! We are located at 21 Washington Street, Suite C, Ayer MA 01432
Thank you so much for all of your support, arising from a love for your neighbors. We appreciate all of you!
