December 15, 2025 newsletter

Good morning to everyone!  It's so great to see the sun back out this morning, even though it doesn't seem to be having any effect on melting the snow.  When Mike and I went to the gym this morning, it crunched underfoot.  You know it 's too cold for melting when that happens!

But anyway.  We had a very busy weekend, and once more we were so glad to be in our new home at Shepherd of the Valley Lutheran Church, where we have much more space to stage our pantry sessions, and where our guests can come inside out of the cold to get their groceries and can enjoy hanging out with friends at the Coffee Bar.  We're coming up on our 1 year anniversary of being at SOV, and that just reminds me of how grateful we are to the members of this congregation who worked so hard to make room for us...you know who you are!

Another reason for gratitude came last week when we received notice of an unexpected grant from the Community Foundation of North Central Massachusetts.  It made us realize that we need to have a stakeholder's meeting before our next Trustees' meeting in March.  It will take place on a January Saturday in the afternoon after we close up the pantry, to see what suggestions all of you have for us moving forward.  I will write about this meeting separately, as soon as we get a date approved.  The more input, the clearer our path forward will become, so I hope all of you will be able to attend!

One Small Thing

Our friend Karen knits hats and scarves all winter during the long, cold evenings, and then she brings them to us to give away to anyone who needs them.  They have been very popular over the last few weeks, as I'm sure you can believe!

If you want to shop for us this week or donate, I've been forgetting to tell you about our new QR Code.  I'm such a dinosaur that it just doesn't enter my mind most of the time, but I know it makes things easier for many other folks who like the convenience of phone transactions, so I apologize!  Here is the QR Code, or you can do it the “old fashioned way” through this link:

We can take drop-offs at the pantry (through the gray door off the parking lot on Cambridge Street) on Wednesdays from 10 to noon, Fridays from 4 to 5, and Saturdays only from 9 to 10.  Please do not leave food at the door outside of these hours.  The bin is always available at Shop n' Save if those times don't suit. Please leave a note in the bag with your name so we know whom to thank!  We are located at 21 Washington Street, Suite C, Ayer MA 01432

We are grateful for each and every one of you.  Have a great week!
