Good morning friends! What a beautiful weekend it was, and what an equally nice stretch of weather seems to be before us this week. Slowly but surely, things are getting set to rights in the kitchen and the pantry. We lost some more food and supplies last week during the professional cleanup, which was very unfortunate, but we're back to full operations now. Accessibility for the pantry is still a challenge right now, but as soon as our entrance and hallway are rebuilt or restored, things will be much better. It would be nice if everything could be finished yesterday, right? :-)
I want to remind you about the concert coming up this Sunday, September 21 at 4:00 in the beautiful Shepherd of the Valley sanctuary (21 Washington Street, Ayer). This is a benefit for Stone Soup Kitchen, being performed by two professional Berklee Conservatory musicians. I have heard them, and they are, in a word...GREAT! Come enjoy an hour of wonderful music followed by some light refreshments and a chance to talk with them. I know of one young girl who hopes to play the viola in the future, just like one of our guest musicians, so she is looking forward to meeting her. Whatever your reason for coming, just come! Please park in the lot off of Newton Street, and walk up Washington Street to the second blue door.
One Small Thing
Our friend Dan shared a small thing that he did recently. Small to him maybe, but huge to the recipient, I'm sure. He has been supporting a child from Haiti through one of the many child sponsorship programs for quite some time. And recently, he added sponsoring that child's twin sibling. Isn't that lovely?
We are back to being able to receive donations at the pantry, although it is probably still easiest for you all to drop off donations at Ayer Shop 'n Save. Thanks to Becky + Rick J, we can have everything dropped off to us just twice a week to cut down on cars in and out of the parking lot while school is in session. If you're coming to the pantry, please contact me first so that I can explain to you where the temporary entrance is. If you drop off at Shop 'n Save, please do put a note in your bag so I know who it's from...we love to be able to thank you properly!
Thank you all so much for your support and encouragement during this stressful time!
