And just like that, September is over. It makes me sad, but October is a beautiful month too in New England, and there is much to look forward to!

At the dinner and the pantry, we had much to be thankful for. Not only did we have beautiful weather for getting together, but we also had some friends stop by with fun things to share. Our friend Lyna T came on Friday late afternoon to give haircuts to those who needed some sprucing up. She is such a bright light and a generous soul, and she always makes us feel good about ourselves. I really appreciate that after a long day of work, Lyna is willing to come and do just a few more cuts!

For the food pantry on Saturday, our friend Laurie S came and dropped off kits for sprouting seeds (as in, sprouts for salads) for our guests. We didn't know if they would be popular or not, but we decided to give them a try. Well, they were very popular! To say that Laurie and I were delighted is a bit of an understatement! That just goes to show that you never know if your own passion or talent will be something that others want to share in until you try. Our friend Debbie E was also there at the pantry, serving up coffee, cookies, and a very big smile. If you'd like to get involved in our coffee bar, please let me know and I'll get you in touch with Debbie and Lin. They would love to have some more people come and just hang out to encourage more interactions. Don't worry, no one is going to make you do it by yourself...you can just come and drink coffee and chat if you want!

Speaking of coffee, this Wednesday morning, Coffee with a Cop Day returns to AllTown Fresh in Ayer. I plan to be there from 9 until 10 (when work at the pantry starts). Please come and meet some of the wonderful police officers who serve our community. Are other towns in our area doing this? The location finder on the organization's website isn't working (for me), so those of you in towns other than Ayer, please let me know if you have events too!

If you can shop for us this week, we could particularly use some more spaghetti pasta, baked beans, and soups! We will also gratefully take any food items from our full list that you might find on sale. If you need the list, please let me know. We'll be at the pantry on Wednesday from 10 to noon, Friday from 4 to 5:30, and Saturday from 9 to noon for drop-offs. And the bin is always available at Shop n' Save if those times don't suit. Please leave a note in the bag with your name so we know whom to thank!

Enjoy this glorious week, and I love you all!
