Good morning friends! Wasn't it nice to finally have a weekend without constant rain? We were so happy to be able to put everything out on our “take it if you want it” table this Saturday, as the boxes were beginning to overflow :-) We had a great week, and I want to get you all caught up on what's happening.

Dr Lydia McClure came to visit us on Tuesday evening, and we had a wonderful time together learning about how really simple it is to get the right nutrition, even if we don't like cooking! We had time to share tips with each other about different ways we streamline our own meal preparation during the busy weeks, and still make sure we get the nutrients that we need. We learned that it's much easier than we thought, and doesn't require any fancy supplements to do it. We are grateful to Dr McClure for giving of her time to come and meet with us.

We also had our Crafts Gathering on Saturday, and Debbie E demonstrated how to do scratch art, using the stencils and freehanding other areas. Everyone had a great time, and Steve just stuck with coloring, as you can see in the attached pictures! I still hear occasionally from people who tell me that they wanted to come, but didn't want to take a spot from someone else. This saddens me...there is plenty of space! It's a big room. There are plenty of materials! There's more energy and more fun with more people! Please let your friends know

On Friday October 27, we're going to have a visit from our favorite nurses from the Nashoba Associated Boards of Health. They'll be coming to do wellness checks, answering any medical questions we have or pointing us in the right direction to get those answers, and hopefully they will also have some flu shots available for those who want them. If you'd like to join us for this, email me. It's open to all, and you can stay for dinner or not, as you choose. I just need to get an approximate count for them, so let me know!

We are completely out of warm socks for women, and it's that time of the year. We have plenty for men, but women generally have smaller feet and most of our men's socks are just too big. If you can help us out with this, we'd be very grateful.

Did you know that we post about the Friday dinner and a list of all donors each week on facebook? We even include Mr and Ms Anonymous! There are so many local businesses, churches, organizations, and individuals that help us out in various ways, and I hesitate to try to list them all here, because I know I'll forget someone. But I do have to shout out a few extraordinary partners who've been supporting us for years now: the Ayer Police Department, the Ayer Community Garden, Ayer Shop n' Save, the area Churches, VividCloud in Boxboro MA, the Greater Lowell and the North Central Massachusetts community foundations, Boston Area Gleaners and the Community Harvest Project, and too many individuals to count, including shoppers, packers, transporters, donors, and other volunteers! You can see the complete list each week on facebook at https://www.facebook.com/FeedJust1 or on our blog at https://stonesoupkitchenministries.blogspot.com/

This weekend, we received a surprise donation that has an interesting story I want to share with you. Our friend Denise S made a donation to a dairy farm in Vermont (Lucky Hill Farm in Danville) that she knows was struggling. They sent it back to her, saying that all farmers are struggling right now, and they wanted her to donate it to her local food pantry. I was deeply touched by the generosity on both of their parts. Appropriately, they asked that it be used for dairy, and so it will be applied towards our still relatively new milk vouchers!

If you can shop for us this week, besides the women's socks, plastic bags, and the encouragement cards I mentioned last week, we could definitely use low-sodium soups, in either the condensed or the “progresso” size. Also, we learned last week that it's really hard to find baked beans marked “low sodium” but much easier to find those marked “low sugar.” So yeah, that :-) Low sugar canned baked beans, please! Anything else from our newly tweaked healthier list would also be gladly accepted, and thank you. We'll be at the pantry on Wednesday from 10 to noon, Friday from 4 to 5:30, and Saturday from 9 to noon for drop-offs. And the bin is always available at Shop n' Save if those times don't suit. Please leave a note in the bag with your name so we know whom to thank!

I wish you all a beautiful week. In light of all that's going on in the world, and all the things that make us feel powerless, let's hug our families tight and do what we can for those in our own community. Thank you, I love you all.
