  Good Monday morning to you all! We had a busy but satisfying week and weekend, and I hope you did too. A couple of our pantry guests asked if they could pick up groceries for friends or family members who were having a tough time. One had just lost everything in her apartment to a fire. Like most people, she didn't have adequate insurance for a catastrophic loss like this. I don't know about you, but when I was living in an apartment, I didn't have ANY insurance. It just never occurred to me, and honestly, even if it had, I doubt that I could have afforded it. I was simply trying to eat and keep the heat on. For several long cold months, there was no heat and barely enough food. Your generosity helps keep others from having to make some of those hard choices, so thank you all! I have a few stories to share with you this week. I've been saving them, because once we have one “coincidence” story, I know there will be others that follow (you all know by now ...

  Stone Soup Kitchen opens at 4 pm on Friday evenings, located at Living Water Fellowship in Devenscrest, Ayer. It is open to ANYone who wants a good hot meal and some company...no need to bring anything but yourself unless you want to! From 4 to 5, we are open for those who want to get together and socialize, do puzzles, or play games in the dining room. The potluck dinner is available from 5 to 5:30 followed by dessert and our support group. The open support group meeting with Teri T runs from 5:30 to 6, if you'd like to stay for it after dinner. This week, the potluck will feature bacon-wrapped brown sugar chicken, various sides, dessert, juice, and some extra snacks to take home for the weekend. Our food pantry is open every Saturday morning from 10 to noon, same location. If you need food, or KNOW someone who needs food...please come pick some up.   Good morning to everyone! I hope that you were all able to get out and enjoy the weather this past weekend, and again for the next few days. My phone says that it's supposed to hit 80 today! How many more bonus days can we expect? I think this calls for a little bit of goofing off today if possible 😊 Mike and I took a short trip to Vermont last week and had a great time even though the weather didn't fully cooperate. Fortunately, we pretty much like everything, as long as it's outdoors, so we really enjoyed the magical mistiness of the low-hanging clouds, the actual snow on top of the mountains, and the gorgeous just-past-peak colors. We crammed a lot of stuff into a few days, but none of it felt rushed since we made no plans ahead of time! The attached pictures are from the bottom to the top of one of the mountains, same day. Before we left, my friend Melanie P said that she would take care of Stone Soup Kitchen's dinner on Friday. What a beautiful off...

  Good morning friends! After such a beautiful weekend, it's a bit startling (to those of us who have sworn off the news temporarily) that it's raining today, but my crispy-critter plants seem to be quite happy about it. First and foremost, all of us at Stone Soup Kitchen need to take a moment and say a special thank you to Bob B, the pastor of Living Water Fellowship. Bob is stepping down from the pastorate and won't be on our board or working with us anymore. Bob is responsible for SSK being located at Living Water Fellowship in the first place. He invited us to take up residence there in 2019 when I was passing out dinner from the back of my Jeep. A year later, he encouraged me to begin the process of establishing SSK as a separate 501(c)3. He has given us wise counsel at our board meetings, and has continued to be a personal friend, even when we disagree.
